Road Traffic Accident Abroad

Fachtna O Driscoll Solicitors represented a client who suffered personal injuries as a result of having had a road traffic accident abroad. Although the accident happened abroad we were able to sue the owner of the other vehicle in Ireland. The case involved complicated issues of law in relation to jurisdiction and damages. The question arose as to whether Irish law would apply when assessing compensation for personal injuries arising from a road traffic accident that occurred overseas.  The case settled for a substantial sum without our client having to go to court and give evidence.
